Former Managing Director DHL Freight for four European countries has been recruited by Project1 as CEO, starting July 1, 2021.
Cosmin Ionescu, aged 51, has been the Managing Director of DHL Freight for the Romanian market for 12 years, his role being extended in the last four years to three other countries – Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
With more than 20 years of international experience, he is recognized for successful strategic planning that has helped the companies achieve significant revenue growth. His approach emphasizes customer satisfaction and team loyalty, as drivers of a company’s evolution.
Cosmin Ionescu studied business management in Greece and Germany at prestigious institutions such as the European Business School in Frankfurt and continued his professional development through programs such as the Management Module of Harvard University.
“I am happy to join a team that has managed to prove, in such a short time, that an ambitious direction as well as the obsessive attention to detail and customer needs, make the difference in an already mature market. I share the vision and values of Project1 and I am ready to support, together with the three active partners, the continuous and accelerated growth of the company,” says Cosmin Ionescu, Chief Executive Officer Project1.
Simultaneously with the restructuring of the Senior Management team in Bucharest, the Project1 Timișoara team is joined by another exceptional professional. Florin Bercea held the position of Leasing Manager of Mulberry Development for nine years, a company owned by businessman Ovidiu Șandor.
This development of the local team comes in the context of the effervescence of the local market, with a growing demand for projects from both Romanian companies and international corporations.
Bucharest and Timisoara are just two of the locations where Project1 has headquarters and a local fleet, the third being Iasi. The company plans to expand its presence in the next 12 months both in other areas of Romania and abroad, where it is already carrying out projects.
Project1 was founded by Valentin Nour, Ștefan Olaru and Tudor Chindea in 2019. The company quickly distinguished itself on the Romanian office market, with numerous large-scale contracts in progress and notable successful projects for companies such as Thales Systems, Huawei, Honeywell, Lenovo, CTP, Buck Consultants Limited London, or Acronis, for which they designed and built office spaces to the highest standards.
The year 2020 brought a validation of the Project1 investment in quality services and professionals, with the extension of projects in the industrial and residential area, and a turnover of 14.2 million euros. In its third year of operation, Project1 reaches a team of 53 employees and a turnover of 12 million euros in the first six months.
Project1’s partners include internationally renowned companies in the industry, such as Vitra – a Swiss luxury furniture manufacturer or Shaw Contract – a world leader in floor finishes, a company belonging to the Berkshire Hathaway group owned by businessman Warren Buffet.
Project1 aims to deliver quality to the highest standards by optimizing workspace office projects, offering viable and efficient solutions and ensuring maximum comfort and creative intellectual stimulation in the spaces developed for its clients.
